Ethos & Values

At Margaret McMillan we have always been inspired by the children and aim to offer them the very best start in life so that they can make best use of all their talents and abilities.

We are proud of our school and the wonderful environment it offers the children and their families and hope we come close to the vision Margaret McMillan had when she set up some of the first garden nurseries early last century.

We see ourselves very much as a community resource and we believe that Margaret McMillan Nursery School and Children’s Centre is a place where:

  • The child is at the centre of everything we do.
  • Children are supported to realise their full potential intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically.
  • There is an effective and supportive partnership between children, parents, staff and the wider community.
  • Everyone can benefit from sharing in a community in which difference and individual contribution is valued and celebrated.
  • Everyone can feel part of a reflective learning community seeking to continually evaluate and enhance the provision in order to improve the life chances for all the children and their families.
