Home Learning

Welcome to our home learning page

We hope these activities and ideas will enable you to continue to support your children to actively engage in playful activities during times when they cannot come into school.

We aim to provide fun and playful learning experiences that are easily resourced with items you would find around the home. Most of our activities do not require access to the internet or specialist equipment – you can use everyday routines and items. You and your child can do these activities over and over again, they do not need to be done in any particular order you can choose where to start and where to finish. If you feel the activity is too difficult or too easy, you can adapt it to suit your child.

We are grateful to Islington Early Years team and have incorporated many of their home learning ideas on this page.

We have organised the material into sections:

  • Activities and ideas reflecting 5 broad learning and development areas
  • YouTube videos of stories we use regularly in school and call our core texts
  • Some links to websites that have interesting and relevant content for your child to watch
  • Some links to websites where you can learn more about early years child development

The expectation of the DfE to provide remote learning to pupils applies to school age children only. At Margaret McMillan we aim to provide ideas and activities which help parents to support their children’s learning when not in school.
